Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- In coordination with the Programme Officer, support in organizing and carrying out IOM’s field activities such as, but not limited to, conducting site assessments, baseline studies, market assessments, and Cash for Work (CfW), as part of all ongoing and upcoming Peace and Recovery Unit project interventions.
- Support in monitoring all interventions, assessments, and activities conducted by IOM and its Implementing Partners and contractors through various means, including regular site visits, focus group discussions, and monitoring surveys and provide quality updates on the current progress and challenges to the Programme Officer.
- Ensure that beneficiary selection is in line with the relevant guidelines, targeting the most vulnerable populations through thorough checking of criteria and verification.
- Conduct accurate data collection and meaningful analysis of field surveys, stakeholder consultations, and assessments, amongst others.
- Regularly conduct stakeholder meetings with relevant stakeholders including the local authorities/officials, as well as community leaders and members to mobilise the community in support of project activities and to keep an open channel of communication.
- Regularly share field reports with the Programme Officer and Field Coordinator in a concise and visually compelling manner, documenting project progress and highlighting any challenges.
- Work closely with the Programme Officer and Grants Coordination Unit in following up on contractual matters pertaining to the Implementing Partners and support in resolving bottlenecks.
- Promptly follow up with the Resource Management Unit and Procurement and Logistics Unit on any finance or procurement related matters as assigned by the Programme Officer.
- Support the Programme Officer with high-quality, regular project progress reporting as part of internal updates and official donor reports.
- Ensure that relevant project information, including all hard copy Means of Verification, is well-documented on the SharePoint in an organised manner.
- Assist with any other administrative and programme-related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
University Degree/Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, such as International Relations, Conflict Studies, Engineering, WASH, etc.
Experience:
Minimum Four Years Experience (Two for Bachelor’s Degree holders) in the humanitarian and/or development sector, working on technical projects with Implementing Partners.
Experience working on Peace and Recovery interventions, including Cash for Work (CfW) and community asset rehabilitation, livelihoods and economic empowerment, education, peacebuilding, social cohesion, conflict resolution, and gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Skills:
- Excellent drafting skills in English, including abilities to translate from Arabic to English and vice-versa is essential.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc. is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication are a requirement within the team, but also for working with stakeholders and other relevant parties.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, consistently delivering high-quality work, is essential.
- Strong Community Mobilisation skills with knowledge of the local area are essential.
- Prior experience in working within the UN system or with other international organizations is an asset.
LANGUAGES
For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).
